I’m an educator who started my journey in education in 1999. I have earned an Associate of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, and a Masters of Science in Education. I also hold many certificates in education including Autism. I have worked with children from all walks of life. I’m an advocate for childhood literacy and I’m passionate about advocating for children with Autism. I write children’s books on diversity and inclusion that help promote acceptance of all children, as well as, bring awareness to autism.

BLAQVERSITY MAGAZINE: How did your journey as an author began?
TASHIA BEAUTY: I feel that my journey started several years ago because I have wrote for fun and always wanted to publish a book. However, I published my book this past November 2019.
BLAQVERSITY: Was becoming a writer something you always wanted to pursue? Who motivated you?
TASHIA: I have always wanted to be a children’s book author. My husband pushed me to pursue publishing my children’s book. He constantly provided me with resources to learn more about becoming a children’s book author.
BLAQVERSITY: What are some of your favorite authors out right now?
TASHIA: I have a great interest in children’s books and my favorite author is Dr. Seuss and Karma Wilson.
BLAQVERSITY: Since becoming a published author, what challenges have you faced if any?
TASHIA: The main challenge that I have is marketing my book and getting my book in children’s hands.
BLAQVERSITY: How many books have you written? What is your genre?
TASHIA: I write children’s books. I have 1 published book and will be releasing the second one in June.
BLAQVERSITY: What message do you want your readers to take away when reading your books?
TASHIA: My books are written to teach children, as well as, their parents that everyone has a special gift or talent to offer the world.
BLAQVERSITY: Do you have any writing tips/suggestions for any new author who wants to write their book but doesn’t know where to start?
TASHIA: My advice is to just do it. Start writing!! I have also found that the Facebook author groups is a great resource for new authors. There are several authors there and they have great questions and answers.
BLAQVERSITY: Are you currently working on any new book projects? If so, when can we expect them to be released?
TASHIA: Yes it will be released in June 2020.
BLAQVERSITY: What does being an author mean to you?
TASHIA: It means expressing yourself through writing.
BLAQVERSITY: Where do you see yourself five years from now?
TASHIA: A known children’s book author with a total of 12 books in the series that covers different gifts and talents of children with autism and other special needs. In addition to being an author I want to start to speak at events to help spread the positive side of autism.
BLAQVERSITY: Have you ever thought about being an author full-time?
BLAQVERSITY: If you could co-author with any author in the world, who would it be and why?
TASHIA: I really don’t have a desire to be a co-author.
BLAQVERSITY: Tell us about your marketing strategies as an author? Do you find it to be challenging at times when promoting your books?
TASHIA: Marketing is challenging for me. To market my book, I do alot of online marketing, as well as, author visits and vendor events.
