“The desire to allow my imagination to continue to grow and entertain the masses. I just have great stories to tell and want to share. I want to see you laugh, cry, cringe, and sigh in relief over tales I’ve created and understand that they were solely designed to unplug you from your realities and tune in to my fantasies.”

Noyek is an acclaimed fiction author and creator of The Sassy Writer brand. She started her
journey as a short story blogger, only sharing with close friends. However, after the request for more, she moved forward in creating a compilation of stories, converting them to an anthology- Tales from Pandora Box: Chocolate fantasies.

Since, she has gone forward with writing another book, Dear Infatuated. As well, you can find
her work across the web on different platforms and magazines.

In 2019 she introduced The Sassy Writer, an expressive platform for bold writers of all genres
and a literary hub for readers who enjoy their works.

It was inspired by the desire to emphasize that great storytellers come from all walks of life
and deserve to be heard and appreciated.

VERSAFI MAGAZINE: Thank-you so much Noyek for taking the time out of your busy schedule to talk to Versafi Magazine about your writing journey. So let’s begin! How did your journey as an author began?

NOYEK: Oh goodness, it’s so long ago. So, I have been writing literally since school-aged. Not like, assignments writing, but folding lined paper in half and making books. Then I was a staff writer apprentice for my local newspaper during high school, going into my first publish as a young adult, and short stories, and blog posts, and this could take a while, so let’s just say a long time ago!

VERSAFI: OMG! Yes!! I used to fold line paper in half as well as a school-aged child and decorated the front as the cover and then wrote my stories! I thought that technique was very interesting and creative for a little girl. So was becoming a writer something you always wanted to pursue?

NOYEK: Oh, no, ma’am! I didn’t choose writing; it chose me! Haha- that was corny, huh? But, no seriously, it’s my first love.

VERSAFI: Oh no! That wasn’t corny at all! LOL. As a matter of fact, writing chose me as well! When I started writing at the age of nine, it just chose me (God’s gift and purpose to me) and from there I went with it creating short stories. So I definitely feel you on that! As always something or someone motivates us to do what we do. For you, who/what motivated you?

NOYEK: My sister hands down had my back when I first started. To this day, she still riding. My husband joined the team, and honey, the motivation, and support were put on steroids!

VERSAFI: We all need that ride-or-die in our life and knowing that supporters whether family or friends will stick by us in our line of what, that is what’s up and you will know the real ones from the fake supporters, hands down! Now what inspired you to write your first book?

NOYEK: Honestly – music. Honey, I grew up on the crooners, and if you know anything about the Silk, Ginuwine, and New Edition eras of life, you know it was litty and quite influential.

VERSAFI: Yas hunty! I definitely know about those classic legends! LOL. I love me some New Edition thought! So now that you are published,  How does it feel?

NOYEK: Feeling good, feeling great!

VERSAFI: I know that’s right! When you publish your first book, the feeling that you get is amazing! Since becoming a published author, what challenges have you faced, if any?

NOYEK: I definitely have to say marketing may have been the biggest challenge. The first release, I was so hype and excited to have completed such a feat. I made the mistake of thinking everyone else was just as excited. And you know, maybe they would have been if I had actually introduced myself and told them what I’d done. I made the notorious new author mistake – Write, publish, be proud, but quiet. It was definitely a learning curve.

VERSAFI: Yes I definitely agree about the marketing piece. I’ve had several authors who have the same issue.  When you write your first book, you are excited and expect everyone else to be excited along with you, but truth be told, they don’t care and they keep moving on. Once you realize the gift and passion you have, nobody can ever take that power away from you! So continue to promote and market. So what genre do you write on?

NOYEK: I am a fiction writer. I tell tales influenced by real-life feelings and emotions and situations on a good day.

VERSAFI: I enjoy reading books that talk about real life situations and things we all have gone through in life. So now what message do you want your readers to take away when reading your books?

NOYEK: Hmmm, I don’t know, maybe something along the lines of, “Who thinks of stuff like this? Apparently, Noyek, and honey, I’m glad she did. “Hey girl, read this book by Noyek!”

VERSAFI: I like the sound of that! When you know you written a dope book, you should tell the world! What does being an author mean to you?

NOYEK: It means being a creative overflow. I’m not even sure what that means, but it sounds really good, right?

VERSAFI: It makes perfectly sense! It’s like a spiritual overflow of God’s abundance in your life! When writing books, where did your inspiration/motivation come from?

NOYEK: The desire to allow my imagination to continue to grow and entertain the masses. I just have great stories to tell and want to share. I want to see you laugh, cry, cringe, and sigh in relief over tales I’ve created and understand that they were solely designed to unplug you from your realities and tune in to my fantasies. Whew! Honey, I was feeling that. The passion was overflowing! Haha!

VERSAFI: Now that was a mouthful! But good and deep! LOL. Sometimes you got to unplug from this crazy world and dig into a world of fantasies where it’s calm and relaxing and you don’t have to deal with or listen to the BS! LOL. So where do you see yourself five years from now?

NOYEK: Specifically- relaxing at a Costa Rican beach resort in a swanky two-piece sipping on a smooth pina colada waiting for the record setting follow- up phone call concerning my latest feature film pitch to Netflix.

VERSAFI: Now that right there sounds like a plan! I like that! Have you ever thought about being an author full-time?

NOYEK: Girl, listen! I daydream and night dream about this!

VERSAFI: I know that’s right! You got to have a vision! A lot of people don’t understand the power of having a vision! So keep dreaming! Because marketing books seem to be a major challenge for a lot of authors, tell us about your marketing strategies as an author? Do you find it to be challenging at times when promoting your books?

NOYEK: My big mouth is my marketing strategy. I am my biggest fan. As well, I love connecting with publications like yours and sharing my gift. And I want to say thank you so much for providing this platform. Very grateful! It can be a challenge, and I say it often you must get in the trenches. It’s not enough to simply write a great book; you have to build out your brand.

VERSAFI: Now that’s a great way to market yourself and your books! Nobody is going to do it like you but YOU! I just love your energy and vibes about your craft and you are very welcome! I enjoy interviewing exciting people like you that isn’t afraid to dream and have a passion to do what they love! Now I’m pretty sure the readers (and I) would like to know do you have any current book projects that you are working on?

NOYEK: Why, dear, yes, of course! I’m working on a story of love, loyalty, and the shit it brings! Can I say? Shit? If not, bleep that out- Sorry!

VERSAFI: LOL. It’s okay! I just like how comfortable you are in your element and space with the interview. Don’t apologize! You are only telling it like it is! How many books have you published in total?

NOYEK: Two! Well, one and a half – wait, is that a thing? So, there’s Dear Infatuated, which is available on my site and amazon. Then there is Tales From Pandora Box: Chocolate Fantasies. This one I unpublished – BUT! It will be back!

VERSAFI: It’s a thing! LOL. But I understand that sometimes we have to unpublish or republish some of our books. I had to rewrite one of my children books over because the pictures weren’t done right and one of my fiction books isn’t what I was expecting it to be. But those titles sounds amazing and interesting! Speaking of interesting, How can readers connect with you and support you?

NOYEK: Yes, yes! Please connect with me. I love chatting with my peeps. Connect with me via my fifty-leven social media, haha! IG: and Facebook: and Websites: and Twitter:
