Just Love Reading is led by Best Selling Author Ja’Nay LeeAnn Ratcliff who wrote her first book at the age of 7. Her first book is called “The Book Club” which is about Ja’Nay who is feeling anxious about joining her school’s book club and how she overcame it with a little bit of help. “As an avid reader one of the things that I want to do is host a FREE book club for young readers like myself,” says Ja’Nay “We are always looking to partner up with other organizations and authors from around the world so that we can share their books to our Just Love Reading friends.” After “The Book Club” launched in November 2019 Ja’Nay sold over 500 books and won the 2019 Texas Black Pages Youthpreneur of the Year Award. Which gave her some more fuel to write her next book called “Traveling With Nay.”

Versafi Media: What inspires you to write?
Ja’Nay: I have always loved reading and when I won a scholarship with My Litle Storie Publishing I asked myself “Nay do you want to become a writer”? Of course, I became excited and that is where everything began.
Versafi Media: Tell us about the motivation behind your book “The Book club”
Ja’Nay: My motivation behind “The Book Club” was my experience with anxiety and nervousness as I would enter into a new club at school. The amount of support that I have prior to and after joining the new club.
Versafi Media: As a best-selling author, what message do you want your readers to learn just by reading your books?
Ja’Nay: The message I want them to learn is to live your dream no matter what and to embrace your journey.
Versafi Media: Do you have a favorite spot that you like to write all your books at?
Ja’Nay: Yes, in my room with the door closed and my laptop.
Versafi Media: How do you stay motivated when writing?
Ja’Nay: I stay motivated by watching other children’s authors grow and always being creative. From rough drafts to going outside to play with my little brother or hanging with my family. Those are the top 3 things that motivate me.
Versafi Media: As a young author, what advice can you give to other young boys and girls who want to write a book but don’t know where to start?
Ja’Nay: To contact My Litle Storie Publishing www.mylitlestorie.com I honestly wouldn’t know what I know now without them. They have been my support during my writing career.
Versafi Media: Marketing is an important aspect when it comes to books. What are some of the marketing strategies that has worked for you when marketing your book?
Ja’Nay: One of my favorite strategies is to participate in interviews with other authors, podcasters, or publishing companies. One of the things that Mrs. Andrea (My Publicist) has been saying since COVID-19 hit is that you have the opportunity to get in front of your audience every single day. That is what I have been doing. Plus, I am able to build a relationship with other authors.
Versafi Media: What does an author mean to you?
Ja’Nay: Being an author means everything to me. I know that this is something I am supposed to do and with God’s help, I will continue to spread the word and bring awareness to reading, being creative, and writing.
Versafi Media: Are you currently working on any new book projects?
Ja’Nay: Yes, I am working on a chapter book along with launching a few new products such as a new t-shirt line, school supplies, and partnering up with a company that knows that LITERACY IS LIT.
Versafi Media: Tell us more about Just Love Reading. How are you bringing awareness to that project?
Ja’Nay: Just Love Reading came about after I wrote my 1st book and I realized that as a 7-year-old author I can help build literacy and writing for young readers like myself. We believe in creating a fun, exciting, and impactful space to support our readers to use their voice and not be afraid to live their dreams. Every Monday on my Facebook page I share another author’s book and even have a Q and A. Since 2020 hit I have been on numerous platforms that allows me to share my story.
