” Being an author to me is important because my voice is meant to capture for Christ and my responsibility as an evangelist and author is to communicate the word of God to others in a way that is accessible, powerful, faithful and intriguing.”
Versafi Media: How did your journey as an author began?
Latasha: I’ve always loved writing and journaling, it’s more than a hobby for me but a lifestyle that allows me to connect my faith to others in a unique way.
Versafi: Was becoming a writer something you always wanted to pursue?
Latasha: Actually, I’m a woman of many hats and it’s been full of numerous dreams, most of which God has permitted me to walk in; although writing was on my short list, I’m grateful for the many doors that continue to open for me!
Versafi: What inspired you to start writing?
Latasha: My lone inspiration for writing was birthed in prayer, in early 2018, I started praying differently for God to “Use Me” as He saw fit, and well the rest is HIS-story! From that point on, it was sparked within me to start a social media ministry- Victory in The Vision. I also felt driven to write my own personal testimony, which lead to my first book release in July 2019.
Versafi: How does it feel to be a published author?
Latasha: It’s a blessing to share the gospel as an author, it has opened up so many opportunities for me such as speaking engagements and other notable projects.
Versafi: What message do you want your readers to take away when reading your books?
Latasha: As a Christian writer, I would like readers to feel ushered into an abounding love with God, while identifying their truths to experience spiritual growth that will leave a lasting impression.
Versafi: What does being an author mean to you?
Latasha: Being an author to me is important because my voice is meant to capture for Christ and my responsibility as an evangelist and author is to communicate the word of God to others in a way that is accessible, powerful, faithful and intriguing.
Versafi: Do you have any current book projects that you are working on?
Latasha: Yes, I’m excited to introduce my latest book project entitled: She Is Strong: Chronicles of A Praying Woman. Debuting in May 2021, This inspirational anthology is centered around Faith, Deliverance and Overcoming though the Power of Prayer! Comprised of several co-authors, this read will not disappoint: true testimonies of Love, Marriage, Grief, Pain and Healing that grip at the heart and unveils our hidden strength- She Is Strong!
Versafi: Since becoming a published author, what challenges have you faced if any?
Latasha: Being a published author is an incredible accomplishment, although it is a career that has challenged me to grow positively. Some of the greater hurdles to cross as an author are periods of writer block- having the vision but finding the right flow to convey everything on paper.
Versafi: If you could co-author with any author dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Latasha: I have always admired the legend Maya Angelou, her poetry and stories were touched by God; everything that she wrote as powerful and through provoking.
Versafi: Do you have a favorite book that you have read in the past?
Latasha: My all -time favorite book is Woman, Thou Art Loosed, by T.D Jakes, all his books are an inspiration to the soul.
Versafi: Have you ever thought about being an author full-time?
Latasha: Well, being an author was birthed out of my desire to evangelize, I’ve been ministering at the bed side of patients in the Washington, DC area for over 13 yrs. as a nurse but I have always known that there was a story within that others needed to hear. I have witnessed to others about how God has changed my life on so many occasions that it became an echo “Girl You Need to Write a Book” and so I decided to be obedient to that call. God has allowed for me to concentrate on this gift and my ministry full-time.
Versafi: Tell us about your marketing strategies as an author.
Latasha: Well, as we know things are different for us authors as we navigate our passion through this pandemic, but my Faith has been my anchor and guidance in my business. I shifted from promoting my book at in -person conferences to producing my own virtual conference and speaking on other platforms. Everything concerning marketing is now driven by connections and our ability to reach others via social media outlet and creating inspiring advertising campaigns. I utilize FB Groups/Ads to push content, IG and Twitter are also effective.
Versafi: How many books have you published in total?
I currently have three published works:
Still Standing: Journey of Pain, Prayers, & Perseverance
