Kimberly Davis Peters is a mother and writer, but most importantly, a children’s book author. She began her writing career in children’s literature with a vision to inspire little readers through the power of storytelling.  A lot of children’s books don’t have enough characters that portrays black and brown characters, so she wanted to change the narrative by creating stories that allow black and brown children to see themselves in a positive way. Elle’s Book Shop was created and born out of the need for more representation of Black and brown characters in children’s books. The mission of her shop is to give young children of color characters and books they can relate to ages 2-6
